How to buy Sasol shares on the Capitec platform

Introduction

Capitec has added the Easy Equities investing platform to its banking app, allowing clients to invest in shares on stock markets in South Africa and the USA.

The bank offers clients a 20% discount on brokerage fees when using the widget and they pay zero data costs when accessing the widget, as Capitec’s app is zero-rated for data.

Customers are able to access Easy Equities from the latest version of their banking app by clicking the ‘explore’ tab and then navigating to ‘widgets’.

The partnership brings greater accessibility to a variety of investment options, in an affordable and simplified way.

Over 4 million app clients are now able to invest in top South African companies like Sasol Limited but also those based in the USA, a unique feature not offered by traditional brokers.

Existing Easy Equities clients can easily sign in and link their accounts and new clients can continue with the following registration process to start investing:

  • Easy Equities automatically runs the necessary FICA checks on your account based on the information you provide, so if you are registering an individual account, you may not need to upload any additional information.
  • After you submit your details on registration, Easy Equities starts to run a series of checks in the background to confirm certain aspects of your identity.
  • Once the process is complete, you will be notified to confirm your status as verified and that you can start investing.
  • The process should only take an hour or two.

Depositing funds into your live account

Once your account is set up and verified, the next step to buying shares is to fund your account. There are a few ways that you can fund your different accounts. You can do an EFT or use your credit or debit card.

Steps to funding your account:

  • Log in to your account
  • Select your ZAR account on the account selector
  • Select the menu in the top left corner
  • Select Deposits under the My Funds section of the menu
  • Scroll down and use the drop-down menu to select the bank where your bank account is held
  • Use the bank account details in the block below the drop-down menu to make an EFT from your internet banking or banking app
