Rebosis shares

Background of Rebosis

  • Rebosis is a listed Real Estate Investment Trust, or REIT, that provides investors with the opportunity of investing into quality grade retail, commercial and industrial properties over four provinces in South Africa. Rebosis holds 49 properties in Gauteng, the Eastern Cape, Kwazulu-Natal and the NorthWest province. Their portfolio is worth R23 billion and consists of mainly shopping centres and large single tenanted commercial offices that they rent out to the South African government.

Rebosis Shares Growth Driver

  • The company was founded in 2010 by the Billion Group and in 2011 they became the first black-managed property fund to be listed on the JSE. In July 2013 the Rebosis Property Fund was approved as a REIT on the JSE. Having the South African government as tenants in a lot of their office buildings is a great underpin for the fund. Combined with some very attractive retail property consisting of regional shopping malls such as the Hemingways Mall in East London and the Sunnypark Shopping Centre in Pretoria, this property fund has a very firm foundation on which to build and expand.

  • When Rebosis was first listed on the JSE in 2011, which is not so long ago, it was worth R3.3 billion and held seven properties. Later in 2011 the Bloed Street Mall in Pretoria was transferred to them and from there their portfolio steadily grew as they acquired new office and retail space over the last 6 years. Notably the acquisition of Ascension Property Fund in 2014 and the acquisition of Forest Hill and Baywest shopping malls in 2016. Building up an REIT from 3.3 billion Rand to where it is today in such a short period is definitely no small matter. This speaks of extreme determination and hard work.

  • Headed by a multi award winning team, Rebosis is set to keep on growing as it has for the past couple of years. The team is dedicated to hard work, professionalism and to conducting business in an ethical and legal manner. Entrepreneurship and thinking outside the box has led this REIT to grow considerably since its inception in 2010.

Rebosis Group Investor Tip

  • Being predominantly black owned, Rebosis is a beacon of hope for the upcoming black middle class and will keep on attracting black investors. With shopping centres that cater more for the black populous, such as Sunnypark and Bloed Street Mall, and office buildings tenanted by the ANC government, this fast growing REIT should definitely be on the radar for investors that want to invest in the future success of our rainbow nation. Empowering black economics is a key driver for growth in South Africa and when encountered by such a fast growing black owned REIT, it can only inspire hope and confidence in the future of this country.
