MTN Financial Performance 2025

To deal with the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, MTN launched the first steps of its Ambition 2025 plan in 2025. COVID-19 has considerably influenced people’s lives and livelihoods across South Africa this year.  Despite a weak macroeconomic climate across its countries, MTN saw a structural increase in demand for data services and a rise in transaction values in its fintech businesses. Robust growth and returns in 2025 were provided by MTN thanks to the company’s leading brand in Africa, solid market share positions, well-invested connection networks and platforms, and a resolute workforce.

As a result of strong commercial execution and disciplined use of capital, MTN was able to surpass most of the Group’s medium-term goals. In addition, MTN spent R32.7 billion on capital expenditures in 2025 to keep up with the surging demand for data services and prepare the business for a 4G and 5G-powered future. The Group had a phenomenally successful year, growing service revenue and EBITDA by 23.7%*. Since the EBITDA margin increased by 2.2%to 44.5%, this highlighted the company’s significant operational leverage. Positive expansion at the main operating companies (Opcos) and cost-cutting gains from an efficiency initiative contributed to the strong showing. While MTN South Africa (MTN SA) had a solid expansion, MTN Nigeria and MTN Ghana saw a double-digit service revenue increase.

MTN Dividend Pay-Out 2025

In 2025, MTN’s Board of directors postponed dividend payments until March 2025. As a result, along with the release of FY 2025 results in 2025, the Board plans to publish a new medium-term dividend policy. According to a notice sent to shareholders by MTN, the company expects to pay a final ordinary dividend of at least 2.60 ZAR for the fiscal year 2025. After the release of FY 2025 results, the Board will evaluate the progress of cash upstreaming from Nigeria, ARP delivery, and COVID-19 impacts and might decide to return additional cash to shareholders in the form of special dividends or share repurchases according to the capital allocation framework.
