LYNX Overview
Lynx is a Dutch Forex broker that was established in 2006 in the Netherlands, offering traders access to a wide variety of trading instruments on two proprietary trading platforms.
While Lynx is well-regarded for its user-friendly and streamlined trading environment and features, the broker is better suited for advanced and professional traders, due to its relatively high trading costs.
These include a high minimum deposit requirement of EUR3000 and high non-trading fees for account management.
That said, traders with Lynx will have access to competitive spreads starting as low as 0.1 pip for major currency pairs, while commissions are also competitive and vary depending on the instrument traded.
Lynx operates as an introducing broker for Interactive Brokers, one of the largest Forex brokers in the industry.
Due to the broker’s connection with IBIE, Lynx is able to provide clients with access to 125 exchanges in 31 countries.
On most of these exchanges, clients are given the opportunity to invest directly in stocks, options, futures, structured products, bonds, ETFs, and CFDs. Added to this, clients have access to 22 different currencies.
Clients’ orders submitted to Lynx and arranged for execution by IBIE are not sold to high-frequency traders or market makers. Reselling client orders to third parties that act as counterparties have a negative effect on the actual transaction price.
Clients also have access to IBIE’s high-speed best execution order routing system (SmartRoutingSM), which is connected to many exchanges and markets.
This technology scans the various stock exchanges and seeks to route orders to the best market taking into consideration execution price, speed and total cost of execution.
All in all, Lynx is able to let investors trade worldwide with the most advanced trading infrastructure as an introducing broker of IBIE.
Traders with Lynx will further benefit from a secure trading environment, as the broker is regulated by De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).
Under this regulation, Lynx forms part of the directive on investor compensation schemes, adopted in 1997, which protects investors by providing compensation if an investment firm fails to return the investor’s assets.
Experienced traders will enjoy Lynx for its access to superior trade execution, asset classes, liquidity, and advanced trading features. Beginner traders may find the broker too expensive for an initial trading experience, and its trading features too advanced.
LYNX Account Types
Lynx offers three account types, namely the Individual, Joint, and Corporate accounts. These are each tailored to specific client needs and therefore will feature differing account conditions.
Lynx also offers a free demo account that will allow prospective clients and beginner traders to test out the broker’s platform and trading conditions before deciding to sign up for a live account.
Unfortunately, Lynx does not offer an Islamic account with swap-free trading conditions for clients of the Islamic faith.
The minimum age to open an account is 18 years. However, you must be at least 21 years to open a margin account. If you are between 18 and 21 years of age or a student (with a paid job), you are only able to open a cash account.
With a cash account, it takes three days after a transaction before you are once again given access to the sum released. There are no restrictions in a margin account: after selling a position you can reinvest the funds immediately.
The total value of your portfolio (value of securities plus cash) must be at least $ 2,000 USD (or an equivalent amount of a different currency) in order to be able to trade in all options, futures, and American shares.
If your portfolio does not meet this minimum requirement, you will still be able to trade in European shares and options.

LYNX Account Features
Individual Account
The Individual Account from Lynx is designed for one sole account holder. Traders using this account will have access to both of the broker’s proprietary platforms, either Lynx Basic or Account Management, and all trading instruments and tools.
Joint Account
The Joint Account from Lynx is designed to be managed by two account holders. Owning a joint account allows two trading partners to profit from the Forex market, and can be set up and managed in such a way that suits both individuals according to their requirements.
Corporate Account
The Corporate Account from Lynx is designed especially for institutional clients who need specialized account management features. Such an account will provide access to higher leverage, a dedicated account manager, and some advanced features.
The Corporate Account will also cost more to maintain and likely have a higher minimum deposit requirement as well.
LYNX Demo Account
The demo account from Lynx is somewhat limited and only available as a Desktop option. The demo account only allows for the Account Management platform to be tested by account users.
Nonetheless, demo account users will still be able to test out a wide variety of features, which include the following:
Over 80 important technical indicators
Add personal support and resistance levels
Real-time streaming price information
Fast switching between candlestick, bar, and line charts
Add Fibonacci levels
Access to historical pricing and Time & Sales
Place orders directly in the chart
The demo account from Lynx is funded with virtual currency and allows traders to test the broker’s features before signing up for a real account.
LYNX Islamic Account
Lynx does not offer an Islamic Account to traders of the Muslim faith. This is a drawback to such traders, as an Islamic Account fulfills an important purpose, as outlined in more detail below.
Also known as ‘no swap accounts’, Islamic trading accounts allow Muslims to engage in online forex trading in compliance with Sharia law.
With 25% of the world’s population practicing the Islamic faith, Islamic forex trading has continued to gain popularity worldwide.
Essentially, an Islamic forex trading account charges no swap or rollover interest on positions held overnight in the forex market. An administration fee is, however, charged on some accounts to open positions.
