15 Best Aluminium Commodity Forex Brokers

Aluminium Commodity Forex Brokers
Aluminium is the most common element found in the Earth’s crust, but never found naturally in its metallic form as it is a compound of other elements.  Aluminium is characterised as being lightweight, recyclable, and corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for a number of industrial uses.

The following industries are the largest consumers of aluminium:

  • Aerospace: Aircraft and Rocket Construction
  • Aluminium Cans: Soda and other beverages
  • Automobiles: Hoods and other lightweight aluminium parts
  • Building and Construction: Multiple forms of Construction
  • Electrical: Electrical Wiring
  • Electronics and Appliances: Washing Machines, Laptops etc.
  • Foil and Packaging: Medicine Packages, candies etc.

Aluminium is produced through the use of two methods: primary production and secondary production.

Here is an overview of the two methods used:

Primary Production Of Aluminium

Aluminium production begins with extracting bauxite. Bauxite is an ore which is found in the topsoil in many tropical and subtropical regions globally. Chemists produce the chemical compound aluminium oxide, or alumina, from bauxite by using a method called the Bayer process. Every two pounds of bauxite produces one pound of alumina. Through a process known as Hall-Heroult, aluminium producers smelt aluminium oxide and refine it into pure aluminium metal. Every two pounds of aluminium oxide in turn produces one pound of aluminium.

Secondary Production Of Aluminium

Secondary production of aluminium involves the process of recycling scrap aluminium into new aluminium. Secondary Production uses significantly less energy than primary production making it more environmentally friendly. Producers extract aluminium from waste streams and prepare to recycle it, followed by sorting the scrap by its chemical properties. Scrap with a single type of chemical composition will have more value than scrap which contains several alloys. After the sorting process, aluminium refiners will place the scrap into melting furnaces and turn it into molten aluminium. Molten aluminium can be cast into two types of large slabs known as ingots and billets. Ingots can be rolled into sheet aluminium and billets can be extruded into different shapes.

Globally aluminium producers smelt approximately 60 million metric tons annually with China leading the way amongst the top Aluminium producing countries.
